Keith Couey

Keith Couey is a lifelong Columbia County resident along with his entire family. Mr. Couey graduated from Columbia High School in 1982, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from University of North Florida, and Master's degree from Nova Southeastern University in Educational Leadership. He began his career in education in 1986 as a 5th and 6th grade teacher, became Dean of Students for three years, Assistant Principal for 5 years, and Principal at Richardson Middle School for eight years, Director of Student Services for Columbia County Schools for four years and Principal at Fort White High School for 12 years. Mr. Couey was unopposed for Superintendent of Schools in Columbia County in 2024. Mr. Couey has been married to Kelly for 34 years, and have one son Kameron who is a graduate from The Florida State University. 

Mr. Couey believes that the genuine care and concern for the physical and emotional  welfare of all students is the foundation of student growth and achievement. He also believes that public education offers overwhelming opportunities to our youth and would like to enhance enrollment in public education, along with gaining additional student enrollment with the Columbia County Schools.
